Dive into Color: Stranded Colorwork Knit Class

Dive Into Color: Stranded Colorwork Knitting Class, Sunday, 9/8 from 12 noon - 2 pm

This stranded colorwork knitting class will build your confidence to knit intricate, colorful motifs. We will use a simple cowl to practice your stranded colorwork.

In this series, you'll learn how to:

  • Knit with more than one color in a row, including how to hold the yarn for stranded colorwork.

  • Read colorwork charts and symbols.

  • Tackle tension and manage "floats".

  • Explore color theory basics.

Skill Level: Advance Beginner/Intermediate knitters who are comfortable with knit, purl, and working in the round.

Class Preparation: *Before first class, please complete the bottom ribbing. We will begin class with the colorwork section.

Class price: $45, plus materials.

NOTE: We ask that all materials for classes be purchased in the shop. A 10% discount will be given for all materials purchased.

Class Schedule: Saturday, September 7, 12 noon - 2 pm

Materials:

  • Pattern: Brunstane Cowl by Ysolde Teague available on Ravelry or at the shop

  • Needle sizes: 

    • Needle A: US 6, 24" circular needle

    • Needle B: US 7, 24" circular needle 

  • Yarn: 440 yards DK or light worsted weight yarn 

    • Main color: 185 yards

    • Contrast color 1: 185 yards

    • Contrast color 2: 71 yards

  • Removable stitch marker

Class size: 6 person max. Must have two registered for series to occur.

Christine is your instructor for this class.

Christine has been knitting for almost 20 years and crocheting for close to 30. While she makes all things ranging from socks to shawls to stuffed toys, her favorite thing to knit is a sweater. On the rare occasion she is not knitting, you can find Christine gardening, baking sourdough, running, or at Disney.
